Ünlü peynir markasıydı ama kapatıldı
2014’ten bu yana listeria salgınına neden olan ünlü peynir markası, mahkeme kararıyla hızla kapatıldı. abcgazetesi’nin haberine göre, ABD Adalet Bakanlığı, kapatmanın ölümcül salgınla doğrudan bağlantılı olduğunu belirterek kamuoyuna detayları paylaştı. Uzmanlar, Listeria enfeksiyonlarının hamileler, yaşlılar ve bağışıklık sistemi zayıf kişiler için ciddi bir tehdit oluşturduğunu belirtti. Enfekte gıdaların tüketilmesinden yaklaşık iki hafta sonra ortaya çıkan semptomlar arasında ateş, kas ağrısı, bulantı ve ishal var. Vakalar ağırlaştıkça baş ağrısı, nöbetler ve denge kaybı gibi ciddi sağlık sorunları da ortaya çıkabiliyor.
Adalet Bakanlığı Sivil Dairesi Başkanı Brian M. Boynton, gıda üreticilerinin, halk sağlığını tehlikeye attıkları gerekçesiyle yasal yaptırımlarla karşılaşacağını belirtti. Rizo-Lopez’e yönelik kapatma kararı, Ocak ayında Hawaii’de yapılan bir denetimde Rizo Brothers Aged Cotija peynirinde listeria bulunması üzerine hızla alındı.
